MRC COUNCIL MEETING - 1 October 2019

The next Rotary Council meeting will be held on Tuesday 1ST October at 6.30pm. Can all Committee chairs send their reports to Jane at least 2 days before the meeting please?

Evie-Anne report

The hot tub for Evie-Anne that the club agreed to help fund was installed a few of months ago but we have not been able to hold an “official presentation” until a couple of weeks ago. Evie-Anne has undergone major spinal surgery and although that went well she subsequently became ill from other causes. The final report has now been sent to the District Foundation Grants Committee and our effort is now closed. Our report shows to all members what our club did for her. I want to thank Mike Holdsworth, Roger Swindells and all others that were involved in the project.

Darts night - 11 October 2019

Here are preliminary details of our second annual darts night. It will again be held at the Hare and Hounds, Watery Lane, Keresley, Coventry CV7 8AJ on Friday 11th October. There will be a fish and chip meal followed by the darts competition. It will start at 7.00pm and the cost will be £12 per person. Teams of 4 people will compete in a knockout competition and there will be a number of prizes including the Sports Shield for the winning club which last year was Bedworth. There will also be a raffle in aid of Rotary Charities. It was a great evening last year so please try to come along and have fun. Each club is welcome to enter more than one team and be accompanied by their supporters. Full details will follow soon but remember the date 11th October.

Tregenna Visit In November 2019

Mike Holdsworth is organising a few days away in Tregenna, staying at Tregenna Castle. This is at a very reduced cost for our visit. There will also be fellowship with St Ive’s Rotary Club.

Mike needs to know how many are interested in the visit so that he can book the rooms asap. Dates and cost available from Mike Holdsworth.

Rotary Radio UK

Rotary has a Radio station which can be used for advertising events etc. See the District Announcements below for more info. Rotary Radio can be accessed at: www.rotaryradiouk.org from your tablet, computer, laptop or smartphone.

David Burton is planning to arrange a visit to the Palace of Westminster on Monday 23rd or 30th March 2020. This will necessitate a start from Meriden by coach at about 7am so that we can have a full tour of both Houses followed by lunch in Portcullis House where we will be able to see MPs going about their business before they start their sitting in the Commons.

In the afternoon we might have a river trip or a guided tour of London by open top bus.

The cost will be around £100 each, but I will firm up on this when the itinerary is finalised. The visit will be open to family and friends and possibly other local Rotary clubs depending on the numbers from MRC.

Welcome to the website of the Rotary Club of Meriden. Below you will find the latest news and announcements for our club. The Diary page has our schedule of meetings and events. If you wish to contact us, use the “Enquiry” form by clicking on the link at the bottom of each page.
